Сlean water for 10,000 people

More than 10,000 people have gained access to clean drinking water in the district of Nosiri Khusraw Jamoat Navruz. The official completion of the project cost about 140,000 US dollars held on March 2, 2017. Funding to improve the standard of living in 5 settlements of Jamoat Navruz has been allocated by the Organization “Good Neighbors” in Tajikistan.

 

The project, after completion of the research work, carried out cleaning water canals stretching 9,700 meters and 3 water wells built by creating special water committees from among the chairmen and activists of local communities, with a view to efficient and careful use of water systems.

At project completion ceremony attended by Director of the Organization “Good Neighbours” Lee Bengchan, representatives of the local executive government authority district of Nosiri Khusrav, Oymahmadzoda Ramazon Alikhon, chairmen of settlements of Jamoat Navruz and local residents.

It was noted that due to the implementation of this project will improve the living standards of more than 3,000 children, as early as last, in 2016, many families suffered from lack of access to clean drinking water, they had to use for drinking and household water, collected from nearby channels, which was dangerous to health. Moreover mainly women and children had to carry water home from distant sources.

According to Director of "Good Neighbours" Lee Bengchan, the main role of the organization consists in to the welfare of each child, so Good Neighbors projects are carried out in several ways water and sanitation, education, health, advocacy, assistance to families in promoting their own businesses and others. The organization operates in Tajikistan since 1998, covering the 5 regions of the country Dushanbe Rasht, Vahdat, Rudaki district, and since the beginning of 2016 in the Khatlon region, partially actuated districts of Nosiri Khusrav and Shahrituz.
