• ZERO waste -Clean schools project.

Good Neighbors Tajikistan in Partnership with Swiss office for cooperation in Tajikistan implement a school based Solid Waste Management (SWM)  project that brings SWM to the attention of future generation, because they are the ones that will have to live with the consequences. The Overall Objective of the Action is to establish replicable, functioning school-based Waste Management systems, which enable students, educators and parents to reduce the volume and environmental impact of waste at school. First, it fosters a constructive and conducive environment for schoolchildren, whereby they may voice their demands and engage with public school administrators, local authorities and community members in a structured and regular way through a participative process. The 12- month Pilot Project aims at sensitizing students about the environment, climate change and waste management through hands-on and thought-provoking activities. It supports schoolchildren and establishes Green Team members in raising their awareness, enhancing their knowledge on environmental and waste management and change their behavior towards SWM. It also develops and implements a school-based Waste Management plan and system. The Action pilots integration of Waste Management and recycling elements into the National in-service Teacher Training Institute ecology curriculum, which will be then rolled out nationally. The project wakes children's interest in the environment and in leading the change in their community through a participatory approach, learning by doing, and skill development.
